Please find a good list below if the machine or the app is having issues with connecting/disconnecting, not working properly etc.
Please first of all make sure that the TopBrewer iOS App and the firmware is up to date. Also check if the iOS Operating system is up to date (although please wait updating the OS if its old and due the following troubleshooting points to save time, as OS version update of iOS less likely to solve the issue)
- Bluetooth disconnect - If the app is connecting/disconnecting continuously, please do the following:
- Check the RSSI Value: Click three times on the “touch to connect” text (iPhone/iPad). If the -RSSI value is more then -85, it’s considered a bad connection. A value between -50 to -85 is considered ok connection. The higher the number (example -90) the worst the signal is.
Video explanation: How to check the signal strength of Bluetooth.MOV
- If the RSSI value is low, please check the following. The combined options here can result in a very bad connection. Please make sure the machine has a Bluetooth external module, Order it here: https://shop.scanomat.com/bluetooth-module-w-1-5-m-cable/
Please read below carefully if any of the following occurs in your troubleshooting situation
- The countertop is it made of marble or other stone or steel that can disrupt the signal?
- => No solution as cabinet is there. see below

- The door is made of steel, reducing the single strength.
- => No Solution. Same as 1-a above. see below

- Deluxe iPad holder: Removing that can increase the signal strength.
- => The 3 issues above can be rectified by replacing Deluxe holder with normal iPad Holder.

- Old Bluetooth Driver:
- => Make sure you are using the latest Bluetooth driver EXTUI2_12. it need to be placed in the 'Update' folder of the machine file directory.
Find it here: EXTUI2_12.bin

- One slight option is to drill a hole in the cabinet and get the external Bluetooth module outside the cabinet and behind the iPad to a closer proximity from the antenna to the iPad. Verify again the RSSI signal strenght to determine if improvements has been made.

- Microwaves oven can 'leak' or emit radiowaves app and TopBrewer - they emit radio waves on the 2.4 Ghz band. If microwaves are nearby, it can cause severe disruption in signal, and broadcast from machine. Even though the signal strenght is 'ok' - microwaves will produce strange patterns of work/doesn't work. This is because the Bluetooth is trying to find a frequncy that is not being disrupted.
=> Solution is to either
A) Turn off microwaves
B) Remove Deluxe iPad holder which will increase signal strenght and potential disruption.
C) If any of the two A) and B) is not possible and wont resolve, TopBrewer wont be able to support the given enviroment - To long name of the machine:
We have seen issues, when the name of the machine is to long. Try to prevent more then 12 Characters for the machine name.
Things to check on older machines:
- Check how old the iPad is.
- => More then 4-5 years could maybe be a problem. Replace iPad.

- check if the iPad is running an old iOS version more then 4-5 generation old. Could potentially be a problem.

- On older machines: Is the Bluetooth module inside the machine?
- Add an external Bluetooth module.
- Add an external Bluetooth module.
Different scenario: App Crash
-If the app is crashing (means the app is shutting completely down, resulting it showing the springboard of iOS), and the client might have to restart for machine it to work again, the issue is most like a software issue and not a Bluetooth issue. Please report immediately with all details:
Report to support@scanomat.com including:
-
- Serial number of machine
- SCT folder of machine
- If the machine is not online, please also in the support ticket include:
- iPad version
- iOS Version
- App Version
